THE IRON GAME - AN ACTION PHOTO

This page is part of the "Iron Game" story only indirectly:  I'm doing the page to include the photo below - taken of me doing the Discus Throw on Saturday 11th March 1967 at the "Track & Field" meeting between the two Largest Life Assurance Comapanies in the country, namely "The South African Mutual Life Assurance Society" (usually just called "The Old Mutual") and the Afrikaans "rival" company, "SANLAM"

I'm showing this photo because the photographer, a friend of mine, caught an interesting "moment" in this throw:  the discus, has just been released by me and can be seen 30 -50cm away from the ends of the fingers of my right hand.  As the discus was released, my front (left) foot started moving onto the toes and the back (right) foot startd lifting off the ground in preparation for the switching of the feet positions - done in order to prevent one from stepping forward out of the 7-foot (2.133 metres) "throwing" circle.
